Alec Charles is Principal Lecturer in Media at the University of Bedfordshire. He has worked as a journalist in Eastern Europe and a documentary programme-maker for BBC Radio 3. He is the editor of Media in the Enlarged Europe (2009) and Media/Democracy: A Comparative Study (2013), co-editor of The End of Journalism (2011) and author of Interactivity: New Media, Politics and Society. His publications include articles in British Journalism Review, The Journal of Contemporary European Research, Journalism Education, Utopian Studies, Journal of Popular Television, Science Fiction Studies, Science Fiction Film & Television and British Politics. He currently serves as co-convenor of the Political Studies Association Media and Politics Group.
