Dr Richard Howley
Principal Lecturer
Dr. Richard Howley is a Principal Lecturer in Digital Forensics and the Course Leader for three post-graduate programmes in the area of forensics and security. After gaining an MSc in Computing Richards interests increasingly focused on the design of secure systems leading to a PhD in this field. Richard has been teaching digital forensics and security related topics for more than ten years as well as supervising several PhD students. He has undertaken several professional training courses in digital forensics qualifying him to undertake hacking, malware and mobile phone investigations. His research interests include the procedures and practices of digital evidence acquisition, analysis and management and the professional and moral aspect of the forensic investigations and practices. Richard has also designed and delivered flexible training programmes for many organisations including a 15 day training programme in digital forensics due to be deliverd to 20 law enforcement officers in April 2012.

My work combines computer science and psychology. My research includes machine learning, human decision making, behaviour economics, human computer interaction, motivation, engagement and gamification. I use machine learning methods to understand human behaviour in complex environments. I am interested in developing interactive systems that leverage data along with human psychology to enhance engagement with technology and improve human behaviour. My doctoral and postdoctoral research was in neuroscience. My PhD was awarded from the Department of Physics at UC Berkeley.

Dr Chi-Hsiou Hung
Lecturer in Finance
Dr Chi-Hsiou Hung holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance and an MSc in Finance, both from Lancaster University Management School. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Before pursuing his PhD, Dr Hung held a position of a Financial Consultant in the Global Private Banking Group of Merrill Lynch Inc. and was a manager of Priority Banking of Standard Chartered Bank. Dr Hung's current research interests are in the areas of Asset Pricing, Investor Behavior, Hedge Funds and Corporate Finance. Dr Hung's research has been published in academic finance journals, including the Journal of Banking and Finance and the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting. His research has been funded by the Institute for Quantitative Investment Research (INQUIRE UK) in 2007 and 2005. Dr Hung has received five Best Paper Awards including the Best Paper Award from the 2011 and 2010 NTU International Conference on Economics, Finance and Accounting (IEFA), the Research Paper Award from the 2008 annual meeting of the Securities and Financial Markets (SFM) conference, the New York Stock Exchange Prize from the 2005 annual meeting of the Midwest Finance Association and the Taiwan Stock Exchange Prize from the 2006 annual meeting of the Securities and Financial Markets conference.
